Wild Weather Doesn’t Faze Wild Women!

We caught up recently to see how Mountain Designs brand ambassadors Kim Beckinsale and Jan Leverton faired hosting the 2017 Wild Women Adventure Race at Noosa earlier this month.

140 brave and intrepid women took to the trails for the 2017 Wild Women Adventure Race on Sunday, October 15, in the beautiful Noosa Hinterland. While the weather didn't quite come to the party, the girls got through the 50km course extremely well and crossed the finish line with beaming smiles on their faces and totally excited about their experience! These women sure are tough!

The event started on the iconic Noosa landmark, the spectacular Mount Tinbeerwah. Treated with 360-degree views at the summit, the girls were given their map for the first leg – a 10km trek to Lake Macdonald. Picking up check-points on the way through stunning rainforest gullies, they arrived at the lake ready for the 5km paddle. First onto the paddle were last year's winners, Mountain Designs Wild Women, Cass Kimlin and Gina Dunsdon. After that they mountain-biked, walked a slackline, shot a shanghai and forded a rainforest creek – nothing was too hard for these Wild Women!

It was great to see women of all ages competing – the oldest being in her 70th year! There were some great family combinations as well and while most of the competitors were first-timers, they proved that you don't have to be an elite athlete to do this sort of thing.

All the winners received gear vouchers from our awesome sponsor Mountain Designs and can now stock up on some more quality outdoor gear for the next one!

Keep up with the Kim and Jan at Wild Women's Adventure.
